I've got two new hot jobs for you!
Manuscript Reader:
I LOVE writing and reading jobs for moms because you can make money around your schedule. No paying baysitters or searching for a daycare. You can work at night or in the morning before the kids wake up!
Book of the Month is hiring a part-time Freelance Reader. The manuscripts will be fiction. No salary info has been posted.
Details from Book of the Month:
We are looking for a freelance reader to help us discover and evaluate literary fiction. We are looking for someone who is deeply passionate about literary and highbrow fiction. To be successful in this role you need to genuinely prefer books that are focused on the artful use of language, deep development of characters, complex ideas and themes, and that potentially lack a traditional plot or storytelling structure.
Our freelance readers read forthcoming titles, share feedback on books read, and take clear positions for or against the titles they read. This is a great opportunity for someone who is highly knowledgeable about current literary fiction, has strong taste and good communication skills, and is excited about discovering and championing emerging authors.Â
What you’ll do…
Read forthcoming manuscripts as assigned and evaluate their potential for the Book of the Month audience. Note: you may also propose titles that you source yourself
Submit written feedback and recommendations in the provided format
Advocate clearly and strongly for titles you believe are excellent and will be great fits for Book of the Month
Accurately weed out titles that are not strong enough to be Book of the Month selections
Attend calls to discuss reading as requested
