Part-Time Remote Poetry Grant Coordinator

About the Company:


The National Poetry Series is a literary awards program that sponsors the publication of five books of poetry each year. The manuscripts, solicited through an annual Open Competition, are selected by poets of national stature and published by a distinguished group of trade, university, and small presses.


POSITION SUMMARY:


We are seeking a self-directed and detail-oriented Part-Time Poetry Competition & Grants Coordinator to manage our annual poetry competition and assist with grant writing and reporting. This fully remote role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, mission-driven, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Poetry Competition Management (Approximately 60% of Role):


• Coordinate all stages of the poetry competition, from planning and outreach through judging and announcement of winners


• Manage the online submission system (Submittable), track entries, and maintain clear records


• Serve as the primary point of contact for entrants, judges, and publishers


• Promote competitions through literary networks and social media


• Organize post-competition deliverables, including announcements and social media


• Help plan and coordinate annual board meeting, and any virtual or live fundraising events


Grants & Development Support (Approximately 40% of Role):


• Research grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and programs


• Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, budgets, and progress reports


• Track deadlines, requirements, and communications with donors


• Assist with collecting data, quotes, and program outcomes for use in fundraising and reporting


• Collaborate with leadership on long-term funding strategies and donor stewardship


QUALIFICATIONS:


• Demonstrated experience in literary arts programming, grant writing, or nonprofit administration


• Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to work independently on proposals and reports


• Comfort with remote work, including self-management, reliable internet access, and use of collaborative tools (Microsoft Office, Word Press, and Submittable)


• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


• Passion for poetry and literary arts


• Previous success with arts-related grants


WORK ENVIRONMENT, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:


This is a fully remote, flexible position. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated and can manage their time effectively while working from home. Occasional virtual meetings will be scheduled in advance, and some evening or weekend availability may be needed around key competition deadlines or grant cycles.


Annual compensation range for this role is $35,000-40,000. This range may vary depending on experience, skills, location, and like considerations.
