My UGC Life: College Student Edition

I just found out about UGC and I’m not even gonna lie, at first it felt like… what is this and why does it sound so complicated. 😭

I’ve never done anything like this before. I work part-time at a pastry café, I’m in school full-time, I study a ton, I volunteer, and I still try to have a life and see my friends. So adding something new felt like a lot.

Also… I like my job, I just don’t love it. And if I can make the same money (or more) in less time doing something online, why wouldn’t I at least try?

I already know people are making real money online. Like not just a little… a LOT. I know people (okay, friends of friends lol) making $25k a month. And TikTok has literally helped people my age buy houses, which is insane to even think about.

What’s even crazier is some of them didn’t even go to college. It definitely makes you question things… but at the same time, I actually love what I’m studying, so I’m not dropping out anytime soon.

For me, it’s really about independence. My parents help me a lot and I’m super grateful, but I also have younger siblings and I don’t want to keep relying on them forever. Everything is so expensive right now and a lot of my friends feel stuck, so I just want to see if I can do something different.

My mom started doing the Anti-Influencer Method, and I decided to try it too so I can learn TikTok UGC. I already had a couple of TikTok accounts I wasn’t using, so I just picked one and started fresh.

So far, it’s actually been way easier than I expected. I cleaned up the account and started posting sample UGC content. I used some b-roll from Dupe and added really catchy quotes that could go viral.

One thing I actually love about TikTok is that it doesn’t feel gatekept. You don’t need a huge following for your content to do well. The algorithm actually pushes your stuff out.

Right now, my videos are getting close to 300 views each in less than 20 hours, which isn’t crazy, but it’s a start and honestly kind of exciting.

I also tried posting two carousel posts. One was just photos of a product I already own, and I tagged the brand… and they actually commented?? That felt like a small win.

The second one was super simple. I just shared my favorite apps, took photos of each one, and wrote a little about why I like them. Nothing fancy at all, just using trending sounds. That already has 8 likes and 331 views. I'm proud of that post.

The whole point of those posts was to make my page look like UGC already, so if a brand checks my profile, they can instantly see that I can promote products.

Today I signed up for a UGC gig app that Megan mentioned in AIM Skool and applied to two UGC opportunities inside of that app. One is for a men's hair loss company which I didn't notice! I'm not a man, but I can talk about how I'd buy it for a man. She posted a lot of jobs this week and I'm going to apply to all of them.

I used the carousel posts I made as my portfolio.

I also pitched a brand that’s looking for UGC creators. Haven’t heard back yet, but I’m not overthinking it.

Next week, I’m planning to send out at least five more pitches using the template from AIM, and I’m going to apply to literally every opportunity Megan posts.

You have to change the email and name, of course.

I'm also going to batch create content. There's a tutorial to make that easy. It is way easier than I thought!

We’ll see what happens. I’ll update next week. 👀
