New Episode: Landing Your First Social Media Client

You can make it as a social media manager.

You don't need any special training. You don't need hundreds of dollars. And you don't need hours and hours a day. All you really need is a heart for a client who needs help getting the word out there that they exist!

I've been a WAHM for 18 years and my bread and butter was social media management for many years. I still manage an account! Why do I love it? The freedom. The income. The fact that I can be an at-home mom while doing it.

In this episode, I walk you through landing you first client.

As promised in the episode, here is a sample cold copy that you can customize to reach out to potential clients. I'm doing this from the perspective of someone pitching a locally-owned bookstore.

Bookstore Sample Email:

Hello_____,

I live right here in our city and was in your bookstore today. Wow, you guys have quite the selection! I'm really looking forward to How to Make Gelato coming out in a few days and am glad to see you'll have it in stock!

This afternoon, I took some time to look at your Instagram and Facebook and noticed you haven't posted in awhile.

I'm a social media manager and would love to come alongside you and help.

My strategy is simple: I'd create 4-6 posts per week for your Facebook and Instagram highlighting your shop, the books you offer, and why everyone in our city (and the next one's over) should come by!

I also build your page organically without any need for ads.

I love our city and believe your store is an asset to it. I'd love to help. If you'd like to hear more, let me know.

warmly,

(your name)

Author Sample Email:

Dear _____,

First, I love your books. (say something sincere about their work).

I spend some time on your Instagram and Facebook. I know many authors don't have the time or energy to create regular posts and that's why I'm writing you today.

I'm a social media manager who would love to come alongside you and help you promote your books. Using quotes from you books, your events, and photos, I would help keep your books in front of readers.

I'd also help you by commenting on other authors' pages essentially handling your online networking for you.

My goal would be to grow your social media, keep your readers engaged, and bring in new follower and readers.

It would be my pleasure to assist you in this way. If you'd like to hear more, let me know!

warmly,

(your name)

Bunmi! I never knew you were a social media manager! I've been doing that (along with writing and editing) for about a year now. I'm really looking forward to listening to this episode!

Much love,

Jessica Kantrowitz
